Never in our wildest dreams did we believed that our 12 month old, Texas THUNDERSTRUCK T383, would be the first ever Angus to break Australia’s All Breeds Bull Record Price selling for $360,000 to Mackas Angus! Amazingly, the starting bid for THUNDERSTRUCK was only $10,000, and this record breaking price made headlines throughout the world.

The previous Australian All Breeds Record price was for a Braham Bull, NCC JUSTIFIED, who sold for $325,000 back in 2017. Coincidently our great Guest Auctioneer, Wayne York also sold that bull.
Texas THUNDERSTRUCK was the very first son of Poss RAWHIDE to sell in Australasia. Following the successful acquisition of Texas ICEMAN for $225,000 in 2021, Macka’s Angus ventured back to Texas and emerged victorious in a remarkable bidding war to clinch Texas THUNDERSTRUCK T383 for $360,000. We were thrilled to have Danny Poss, owner of Poss Angus Ranch, Nebraska America (breeder of RAWHIDE & MAVERICK) to open our bull sale along with his wife Kristi and Chris & Christa Earl of CK6 Consulting Services Inc. & Reverse Rocking R Ranch, New Mexico America to watch history being made.
THUNDERSTRUCK was the standout calf of the 500+ weaners in the 2022 drop. His sire Poss RAWHIDE was sold for $200,000, and his paternal grand dam, Poss BLUEBLOOD has sold $1.5 million in progeny alone. THUNDERSTRUCK is also backed up with 5 Texas female OMNIA generations of NEVER missing a natural calf which dates back 28 years ago! He has a stellar pedigree with his dam, Texas OMNIA M462, being is a lovely feminine female with a near perfect udder set, squarely made and has had her 6th consecutive calf with a 370-day calving interval. THUNDERSTRUCK’S grand dam Texas OMNIA E166, a large roomy DYNAMITE daughter, also with a near perfect udder set has had her 13th calf this year with a calving interval of 364 days, PLUS, his great, great, great Grand Dam Texas OMNIA N7 (deceased) also had 10 consecutive calves with her first calf dropping 28 years ago. If Angus Australia ever had a longevity EBV, these girls would definitely be at the top of the list for this trait, AND not forgetting the fertility of this line would be second to none. Despite the dramatic downturn of the cattle market half way through last year and the continued dry conditions, we still decided to catalogue an extra 50 bulls to give our loyal clients the ability to purchase a larger number of quality bulls within their price range as the last few sales some had missed out. Thanks to the loyalty of our clients, the bull sale achieved a remarkable 100% clearance with all 252 bulls (Australia’s largest single vendor sale of Angus bulls and if not all breeds) selling for an average of $16,764. Once again Queensland emerged as the dominate buyers, securing over 70% of the bulls while the remaining bulls sold in NSW, VIC & TAS.
Other notable purchases of the sale included Lot 25, Texas MAVERICK S816, full flush brother to Texas TOP GUN R66 who was sold in 2021 for $55,000 was quickly snapped up by repeat buyer Adrigoole Angus, Woodenbong NSW for $50,000. While Banamba Angus, Singleton, NSW who purchased last year’s second top priced bull Texas MAVERICK R742 for $70,000 returned to take home Lot 34, Texas MAVERICK S835, full flush brother to Texas ICEMAN for $40,000 and ended up filling the truck with 4 bulls for an average of $32,750, including the other RAWHIDE SON Texas TOP SHELF T301 who also since the sale has been contracted by Genetics Australia for semen sales. Return buyer Yoman Cattle Co, QLD took home Lot 27 Texas MAVERICK S805 for $40,000 as well.
