1st Phase of the 2024 RNA Paddock to Palate Results are in

Our Texas Team had a great day out on the 18th June at Australia’s richest and most commercially relevant feeder and carcase competition, the RNA Paddock to Palate.

In the first phase of the three-part competition, our steers placed 3rd and 7th for average daily weight gain in Class 40, 100 Day Export Non HGP. The competition was tight this year, with only 67 grams/day separating 1st and 3rd place in Class 40!

Once again, Black Box provided interesting data for the first phase, averaging all vendors’ lots in each of the three classes and highlighting overall performance, not just the best lot. We were thrilled to see all our steers placed equal third for weight gains, despite having triple or nearly double the number of steers compared to the top 8 performing vendors. This showcases how Texas genetics consistently perform.

One of our clients, McIntyre Ag, excelled this year, winning the highest daily weight gain in the Wagyu Class 39 section with a pen of F1 Wagyu/Angus and also placing 3rd and 4th in Classes 38 and 37, respectively, for daily weight gains.

All the steers in this competition are fed at JBS’s Beef City Feedlot, in the same way as the company’s other 120,000 feeder steers in the northern division.

As always, the RNA committee organised an informative lineup of speakers to provide insights into the current beef market and forecasts
