With the heaviest of hearts we would like everyone to know Bill or otherwise known too many as “Tex” passed away peacefully on the 21st May. Bill was a big man with even bigger personality, he was always the life of the party and he dearly loved his family.
Bill devoted his whole life to breeding Angus cattle and achieved many accolades in his life. He worked alongside his father, Walter, who was also well known figure in the Angus seedstock industry.
Bill was passionate about showing Angus Cattle and was rewarded for his efforts by winning many Grand Champions at Brisbane and Sydney Royal Shows including the highly competitive Angus World Forum Feature Show in 1959.
His success in the show ring gave him many Judging roles at Royal and Country Shows around Australia. He was recognise by Angus Australia for his 5o year service to the breed. Like his father, Walter, Bill served on the QLD State Angus Committee for a number of years while he was also very involved with local community groups in Texas.
Bill worked alongside his son Ben every day for well over 20 years teaching him the fundamentals of breeding cattle. He attended all 50 Annual bull sales and only missed the last 2 Texas Angus Bull Sales.
Ben and Wendy Mayne along with Judy will hold a celebration of Bill’s life at the Texas Angus Woolshed when COVID-19 regulations are eased. The Mayne family would like to invite anyone who wants to help celebrate Bill’s life the way Bill always did.
