To sell 295 lots of bulls and females in 24 hours was an ambitious idea and our decision not to video the single lots purely because we didn’t have the “man power” was a gamble to say the least! However, our 2 day marathon sale on the 29th and 30th July was one we will never forget and is what dreams are made of! We never believed in our wildest dreams we would sell 295 bulls and females to average $17,954 let alone break the Angus top priced record with a 15 month old Maverick son, Texas ICEMAN R725, selling for an incredible $225,000. It’s still unfathomable to think we would break the Australian Angus bull sale average record with 181/181 bulls selling for an incredible $20,967 average plus on top of that for ICEMAN to break the Australian All Breeds Yearling Bull Sale Record Price at 15 months of age that still stands today.
Buyers came from every state of Australia except for NT and 33 bulls went into studs in WA, VIC, NSW, TAS, QLD & SA.

Macka’s Black Australian Beef, Gloucester, NSW in partnership with Genetics Australia won the bidding war and paid $225,000 for Lot 7 Texas ICEMAN R725. This smashed the stud’s previous record of $108,000 last year that was paid for Texas POWERPLAY P613. ICEMAN is sired by the highly sort after Poss Maverick (pictured above) whose genetics have been in huge demand around the world with a son recently topping the US 2021 bull price with a massive price tag of $1,242,235! ICEMAN’s dam Texas UNDINE H647 needs no introduction being the dam of Texas POWERPLAY P613 and has now sold 19 sons for a whopping average of $36,000. All 9 Maverick sons were snapped up for an average of $50,000 and his 2 heifers averaged $31,500 in the female sale the following day. Texas TOP GUN R66 also a MAVERICK son and who sold as pick or pair with ICEMAN was sold for $55,000 to Mundarlo Angus (sight unseen pictured below) in conjunction with Worldwide Sires Australia, TOP GUN was a maternal brother to Texas EARNAN L612 who was sold for a sale record of $56,000 back in 2017.
The second top price was Lot 142 Texas QUALITY TIME Q549 (pictured above with Ben and Wendy) was sold for $58,000 to return stud client Little Meadows Angus, WA. The Golding family purchased last year’s second top price Texas ASHLAND Q029 for $42,000 and were happy to return to add to their sire battery with another Texas bull. Quality Time Q549 is a Karoo Knockout son out of the very classy female Texas UNDINE L621. She is definitely proving her keep with her sons averaging $39,000 so far and earned her worth to enter the donor program. The equal third top price was for Texas MOE R700 (pic below) who sold for $55,000 to Prime Angus, VIC. Other studs that were in the mix included Onslow Angus, Nampara Angus, Monterary Angus, Medlyn Angus and Yerwal Angus to name a few. While one of the biggest bulls of the sale was snapped up by Michael Smith of Woodenbong NSW for $54,000 and was purchased for his performance in growth rates, added frame and phenotype.
Both Queensland and NSW buyers battled it out for the majority of the bulls with the volume buyer being Fucheng Woodlands, Westmar QLD who took home 8 bulls. The genuine support from so many repeat buyers was humbling. We are still were overwhelmed in having over 200 registered bidders and 900+ viewers through Elite Auctions for the bull sale day. The Texas Program has been built around profitability, performance and having strong maternal lines that produce progeny that can survive and thrive in most environments where most Angus don’t. They are continually identifying higher yielding more profitable genetic lines with added marbling that are the most efficient in the paddock and or in the feedlot converting grass or grain with the fastest weight gains that hit market specifications and produce a desirable eating experience.
The following day saw records tumble for the stud and buyers came from afar to purchase Texas females. Lot 26 Texas UNDINE M508 with an outstanding heifer calf at foot topped at $65,000 and 107 lots averaged $13,069 which is Angus Australia’s second highest sale average ever. Texas Undine M508 was an outstanding female and being a flush sister to Texas MOUNT K2 ($45,000) and Texas MT KAPUTAR M100’s ($44,000) attracted Boambee Angus, NSW and instantly fell in love with her as soon as they laid eyes on her. The Duncan Family put together a lovely draft of 7 young females for an average $20,300. The full sister to Texas UNDINE M508, Lot 74 Texas UNDINE M533 sold for $30,000 to Merit Farms, NSW.
Equal second top price was knocked down for $45,000 for Lot 41 Texas UNDINE M113 that sold with a classy heifer at foot to Tony Rutter, NSW. Mr Rutter purchased 3 cows for this donor program for an average of $28,000. An eighteen month old GAR Ashland daughter, Lot 53 Texas UNDINE Q258, sold to Don McRae for $45,000 which also added to his total of 5 females for the day. The yearling heifers were in hot demand with 5 averaging $22,200. Lot 107 Texas Toque R220 (pictured above), the first Sydgen Bonus progeny to sell in Australia, was sold to Moorunga Angus, VIC for $34,000. Moorunga Angus went on secure 11 females for their Victorian stud for an average of $18,500.
It was worth noting the 13 year old, Lot 27 Texas TOQUE D035 sold with an outstanding Varilek Geddes bull calf at foot sold for $28,000 to repeat buyer client Danny Andrews, NSW and also Lot 43 Texas OMNIA F204 with a cracking bull calf was also snapped up a King Island breeder Rob Skipworth for also $28,000.
